Rust · libcRaw bindings to platform APIs for Rust

  • solarish: wrap callbacks in Option<unsafe extern "C" fn> #5619

    In C a callback pointer can be NULL, but a Rust fn pointer never can, so Rust code couldn't pass NULL and getting NULL back was undefined behaviour. Made the Solaris/illumos pthread_create and door_create callbacks Option<unsafe extern "C" fn>, where None is NULL, without changing the ABI. Tested on illumos and Solaris VMs.

  • perf(ros2-bridge): encode and decode uint8[] sequences in one copy #3786

    Byte payloads like images and point clouds were converted one byte at a time. Using a single bulk copy each way cut subscriber CPU for a 1 MB message from 2.7 ms to 0.23 ms, and from 42% to 8% of a core at 60 KB × 2 kHz, with identical bytes on the wire.

  • fix(ros2-bridge): don't overflow the stack on a package dependency cycle #3785

    Two ROS packages depending on each other crashed dora with a stack overflow while loading message definitions. Dependencies are now resolved by walking the graph with a visited set, so cycles end cleanly.

  • fix(ros2-bridge): don't require a matching QoS to discover a Zenoh service or action #3772

    Service and action clients only found servers with the exact same QoS, unlike ROS 2, so with default settings a dora client could never reach a real ROS 2 service. Discovery now matches by name and type, as rmw_zenoh does.

  • fix(ros2-bridge): don't cap rmw_zenoh service/action calls at Zenoh's 10 s default #3763

    Every call silently used Zenoh's 10 s default whatever timeout was requested, and the timeout was reported as a server error. Each call now carries its own timeout and returns a proper timeout error.

  • fix(python): make drain/try_recv/is_empty work after merge_external_events #3754

    After merging ROS 2 subscriptions into a node, the non-blocking receive methods always returned nothing. They now poll the merged stream without blocking, matching the Rust API.

  • feat(python): tag merged external events with a source id #3749

    Events from merged ROS 2 subscriptions were indistinguishable, so people ran one process per topic. Each event now carries an id (the topic name by default), like the C++ API.

  • fix(io): VideoWriter::close no longer hangs and reports errors #1179

    Fixed four VideoWriter bugs: close() could freeze forever, failed recordings reported success, write() kept buffering after a failure (memory grew from 21 MB to 557 MB), and calling start() twice could deadlock.

  • fix(io): respect GStreamer row stride when grabbing frames #1174

    When a row's byte width isn't a multiple of 4, GStreamer pads each row, and kornia read the padding as pixels, giving slanted images with wrong colours and no error. Frames are now read using GStreamer's real row stride.

CCExtractorClosed-caption extractor, being ported to Rust

  • Port ccextractor.cnf config file support to Rust (it was silently ignored) #2369

    ccextractor.cnf had no effect any more: the Rust option parser overwrote the values C had read, and the old C reader crashed on START_AT/END_AT. Ported the config reader to Rust (all 27 keys), applied before the command line so flags still win, with warnings for lines it can't use.

  • Make old-style options like -608, -UCLA and -parsepat work again #2368

    Nine old single-dash options (-608, -708, -90090, -UCLA, -CC2, -LF, -DF, -parsepat, -parsepmt) failed with "Unknown Argument", so scripts silently got no subtitles. They work again, with tests for every one.

    Independent workflow nodes now run concurrently using Tokio JoinSet instead of one after another.

  • fix(security): close RBAC shell command validation bypass via command chaining #55

    Closed an RBAC bypass in shell-command validation by enforcing token-exact command matching and removing sh -c execution, so chained commands can no longer slip past the allow-list.
